Expedited Passports
To expedite a passport, applicants apply in the same manner as for a regular passport. Normal passport processing time can be up to 13 weeks, not including a 2 week time frame to and from the passport agency. Expediting is the answer for applicants who need a passport sooner (up to 9 weeks), not including a 2 week time frame to and from the passport agency.
Expediting Fees
For Adults (16 & Older):
- Add $60 to the check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State, which covers the expediting fee ($60) for a total of $190, OR
- Add $79.53 to the check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State, which covers the expediting fee ($60) and optional one-to-two day return delivery ($19.53) for a total of $209.53.
For Minors (15 & Under):
- Add $60 to the check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State, which covers the expediting fee ($60) for a total of $160, OR
- Add $79.53 to the check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State, which covers the expediting fee ($60) and optional one-to-two day delivery ($19.53) for a total of $179.53.
Overnight Delivery Service
Overnight delivery service is paid separately from the fees above.
A $28.75 postage-paid Express Mail envelope is available to purchase for overnight delivery of documents to the U.S. Department of State. Express Mail envelopes also may be purchased at the U.S Post Office.
Note: For a group expediting multiple passports, one large postage-paid overnight envelope may be used for submitting applications.
Issuance
Processing time for an expedited passport application is up to six weeks (subject to change) from the date of application (not including mailing times).
Passports are issued by the U.S. Department of State and not the Office of the Clerk & Comptroller.
