Confidentiality for Protected Groups
Members of qualifying professions per Florida Statutes 119.071(4) may request the Clerk & Comptroller redact personal information such as home address, telephone number, photograph, place of employment, etc., from documents in the Official Records. A separate redaction request should be submitted for each person seeking redaction. For example, a law enforcement officer, her spouse, and her children are entitled to redaction. However, individual requests should be submitted for the officer, the spouse, and each child. If a child is younger than 18, the officer or the spouse must sign the child’s request. Children 18 and older must sign their own requests.
Fill out a request using the Request for Redaction of Information Pursuant to F.S. 119.071 – Protected Status form. This form must be notarized.

Note: Applicants must identify the Official Records Book & Page Number or Instrument Number and the exact wording to redact as it appears on the instrument. Without this information, the request cannot be processed. Applicants may search official records to locate documents pertaining to them. Search for the recorded document by person or company name, the book and page number of the recorded document, or by instrument number.
Request to Release Protected Information
The Clerk & Comptroller’s Office is not authorized to release this information to anyone without consent. This may have an adverse effect for those planning to buy, sell, or refinance property.
Applicants must request the release of information via the Request to Release Redacted Information Form.
Title companies or attorneys requesting to release information for the purposes of conducting a title search may do so via an Affidavit to Release Removed Information Pursuant to F.S. 119.071 Form.
Proof of photo identification is required for each request. This form is required to be notarized.
Title insurers must submit their Florida Company Code or license number. Additionally, affidavits submitted by attorneys who have an agency agreement with a title insurer must include their Florida bar number. Such affidavit will be recorded in the Official Record but will not be made for general public display. A copy of such affidavit will be sent to each affected party at the address listed on the document.

Upon conveyance of real property after October 1, 2021, and when such real property no longer constitutes a protected party's home address, the protected party must complete a Request to Release Removed Information Due to Conveyance or Death form. Upon the death of a protected party, a certified copy of a death certificate or court order is required to be submitted along with the form. This form must be notarized.
