Tax Deed Sales
The Clerk of the Circuit Court is statutorily responsible for conducting tax deed sales and issuing a tax deed in the name of the County to the successful high bidder at a sale. Properties sold at a tax deed auction must have delinquent taxes for at least two years before becoming eligible for a tax deed application. The procedure requires a tax certificate holder to apply for a tax deed through the Tax Collector. No case is filed in court, and no court order is issued for the Clerk to conduct a tax deed sale. Please refer to Florida Statutes, Chapter 197, for a complete understanding of tax deeds.

The Clerk & Comptroller receives the tax deed applications with a listing of owners and interested parties from the Tax Collector, who must be notified by certified mail. Per Florida Statute 197.522(2)(a), the Clerk & Comptroller's Office is required to send service to the Sheriff's Office of the County in which the legal titleholder resides to notify them of the pending tax deed sale. At the Clerk & Comptroller's request, the Sheriff's Office will post a warning notice on the property and serve owners with a notice of sale.

The Clerk’s Office prepares and records in the Public Records a notice of application for each certificate containing the property information and names in which it was assessed. Search for the applications (by name) here: https://www.pascoclerk.com/232/Search-Official-Records
