solicitation warning

We can’t call it a scheme or a scam, because what these individuals and companies are doing is completely legal.  They are providing a service, albeit, at a premium price.
Here’s how it works.  The organizations generally target new property owners.  For a fee of $89 dollars, or whatever number they want to come up with, they will provide you with a copy of your recorded deed and a Property Profile.  That profile will include information such as a legal description, parcel ID number and assessment and tax information.
Boy, do we have a deal for you!  Everything that organization is willing to provide to you for a measly $89 dollars, we will provide to you for free!  Simply log onto and search official records.  You can also come down to the office and we will provide a copy for $1.  If you need it certified, that will be an extra $2.  Even with gas prices as high as they are, we doubt you’ll spend $86 dollars to get here.  Talk about some serious savings!
Recently, the Martin County Property Appraiser learned residents were receiving these solicitations in the mail and issued a similar warning.
